Melrose Park, IL
Reviewed on: Thursday, October 17, 2013
This year, Eleventh Hour has a new place to call home sweet home. After moving from Elk Grove Village, they are settling in to their place in Melrose Park, IL. Now, having a 30,000 square foot permanent building with a huge increase in ceiling height, they have a whole new space to call their own. Just walking into the waiting room, we knew we were in for quite a treat.
We entered and were completely in awe of what we saw. Just waiting for our turn to enter the attraction, we saw the enormous set that was erected, including some amazing art and international signage! In addition to the decor, there was also a Tesla Coil that upon eruption, sizzled in your ears and rumbled beneath your feet.
As we entered the attraction, we were given the back story on the facility, which was molded after a zoo, housing zombies and other test subjects for our observation. As we had quite an adventure on the elevator ride down, we arrived to find some of the amazing 20-foot sets that we had been previewed. Some of the largest sets that any haunted attraction has to offer, the scene was a street-setting, complete with open windows on the 2nd floor, curbs, and street lamps! Of course, the fence that protected us from the exhibits had been breeched and we were in harm's way once again.
The tour twisted and turned us through different buildings and attractions, and then bringing us back into the street scene we had mentioned above.
Now, while the street scene was gorgeous and brand new to this show, all of the old favorites from Eleventh Hour's past were included in the tour as well. Scenes like the catacombs and library found their place in the new tour, and fit in very nicely.
Do we love the new location? Yes! And after the devious minds behind Eleventh Hour have another 11 months under their belt here, we can't wait to see how their new home looks in 2014!
Highlights we scream about: The Tesla Coil in the waiting room, the new location and the massive sets!
What to expect for 2014? We know that the creator of Eleventh Hour will continue to create big sets and make himself well known in the community. We can't wait to see what he comes up with for 2014!

- Official 2013 Haunted House Chicago Review Team Review
Thought it was really great this year... actually went through twice. First time with my parents, second time through was with my little niece. It was fun and scary both times - there is something for everyone. The VIP passes really saved time on the saturday night we went... so we didn't have to wait in line to get in.I thought the scenery was really impressive - huge and realistic. The street scene that we kept coming back into throughout was my personal favorite - and I couldn't believe the amount of zombies that kept popping up everywhere! They did a great job with it this year.I would definitely suggest making a stop at Eleventh Hour this season! :)
